Like many other cub fans i've absolutely had it w/ this bullpen. The starting pitchers are putting in great efforts just for the bullpen to blow the already small lead by our siltent bats. We could always give up prospects and pick up a proven closer like
Matt Capps or
George Sherrill from teams who are going to be in sell mode real soon. But I have an even better idea. Make
Rich Harden the closer. The guy has nasty stuff and can strike out the best of em. He also can't seem to ever make it past 5 innings b/c of of his injury prone body and/or fatigue. Harden leaving the rotation would allow
Sean Marshall back as a SP and give us another lefty besides Lilly. Now we can use Zambrano, Dempster, Llly, Wells, and Marshall. Harden would dominate as a closer and push Gregg out of the way and use him for garbage time. Much like having another
Kerry Wood, Harden will hit the disabled list over and over until we use him as a closer.
